November 26, 2008

Indianapolis Parks & Recreation has received a four-year commitment of $1.2 million in grants to support after-school learning programs at eight Indianapolis Public Schools locations.

The grant will offer $350,000 in each of the first two years, then $280,000 the third year and $245,000 in the final year.

The federal 21st Century Community Learning Center grants are awarded through the state, and take effect in January. The programs are tailored to each site, and include health education messages, tutoring, homework assistance, and recreation and leisure clubs.
