Laid-off Pfizer workers start test lab

Five of the 800 people who worked at Pfizer Inc.'s manufacturing plant in Terre Haute before it closed nearly a year ago have started a company that will offering testing for drug and food companies.

Midwest Compliance LLC will be assisted by Terre Haute Innovation Alliance, a consulting service based at Indiana State University. Ex-Pfizer laboratory team manager Brent Schludecker is president and CEO.

New York-based Pfizer shut down the Exubera production plant after sales of the inhaled insulin disappointed.
