On a seasonally adjusted basis, the pace of mortgage loan activity increased 8.2 percent for the week ending Oct. 30, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. Rates for 30-year loans decreased to 4.97 percent from 5.04 percent the previous week. Fifteen-year mortgages decreased to 4.33 percent from 4.53 percent.
