a year.
The proposed energy-saving steps are outlined in a letter Purdue officials sent Tuesday to faculty and
staff.
The letter says numerous energy-saving steps are effective immediately. Those include adjusting temperatures
and operating schedules for heating and air conditioning systems in the campus’ buildings.
Purdue expects it can
save as much as $2 million annually through energy conservation.
The school faces a $38 million reduction in state
funding due to statewide cuts in higher education. Purdue hopes to cut $67 million by summer 2012 to cope with its anticipated
deficit.
