Westfield lumber company part of acquisition

The parent of Hall & House Lumber Co. in Westfield has agreed to be acquired by one of the nation’s largest distributors of lumber and building supplies.

Edward Hines Lumber Co. in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., announced Monday that its sale to Green Bay, Wis.-based US LBM Holdings LLC should be complete on March 17.

The addition of Hines Lumber and its subsidiary, Hall & House on U.S. 31 North, will enable US LBM to expand operations to 30 locations in six states.

US LBM will have about 850 employees and will rank as the 10th-largest distributor of lumber and building materials in the nation, according to ProSales 100.

“We are excited to have Hines Lumber and Hall & House as part of our expanding lineup of building supply businesses,” US LBM President and CEO L.T. Gibson said in a prepared statement. “Hines Lumber is synonymous with residential building in the Chicago area.”

Hines Lumber was founded in Chicago in 1892.

Hall & House is a wholesaler of lumber and plywood, and supplies some of the area’s home builders. It also manufactures hardwood and softwood veneer and plywood.

A manager of Hall & House referred questions about the company to an executive at Hines Lumber., who did not return a phone call seeking comment on the deal.
