Butler team to be grand marshal of 500 Festival parade

The Butler men's basketball team will be the grand marshal for this year's IPL 500 Festival Parade.

The Bulldogs were chosen after winning the hearts of Indiana basketball fans with an incredible run to the Final Four, which
ended with a 61-59 loss to Duke in the title game.

Butler won a school-record 33 games, including 25 straight before losing to Duke. It was the only Division I school to complete
a perfect conference season.

Kirk Hendrix, president and CEO of the parade, says the grand marshal honors those with a body of work for a grand celebration.
He says the Bulldogs fit the description.

Parade organizers say more than 300,000 people are expected to line the two-mile parade route May 29.
