Director, Investor Relations and Capital Markets, Kite Realty Group

Matt Hunt started with Kite Realty Group as an intern after his junior year of college and was offered a job as an analyst at the end of the internship. After working as an analyst for a few years, he moved into investor relations. Since then, the company has more than doubled in size, and “we continue to tell our story and believe we offer a compelling narrative and investment opportunity,” Hunt says. His responsibilities are to communicate the company’s strategy, performance, value and other relevant information to all of Kite Realty’s stakeholders.

Proud moment in your career? Being part of the team that completed a $7.5 billion merger last October (when Kite acquired suburban-Chicago-based Retail Properties of America Inc.)

What have you learned about yourself since you joined the workforce? Stay curious. “I’m not a big cliché person, but I do believe in trying to make yourself 1% better every day.”

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? “I don’t like to set a timeline to where I want to be or how I want to get there, but what I’ve learned is to continue putting myself in a position to be successful and have the ability to grow.”

Favorite social media platform: Instagram

Favorite podcast: “[I] have a couple [of] sports podcasts that I like to listen to but not a favorite. Try to pick and choose different interviews that I want to listen to.”

Netflix recommendation: “Ozark”

Go-to coffee order: iced black coffee

Morning person or night owl? morning person•
