Safety officials probe Notre Dame death

October 28, 2010

A University of Notre Dame student filming football practice died when a scissor lift he was standing on tipped over Wednesday afternoon. The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death of junior Declan Sullivan, 20, of Long Grove, Ill. Wind speeds at the time were high enough for the National Weather Service to issue a high-wind advisory. Before his death, Sullivan joked about his fears on Twitter: "Gusts of wind up to 60 mph,” he posted. “Well today will be fun at work ... I guess I’ve lived long enough."
