A 17-year-old girl suffered a critical head injury Tuesday during a fight at the Southport High School cafeteria. Danelle Loyd has been upgraded to serious condition at Methodist Hospital after undergoing an operation Wednesday morning. The other fight participant, a 15-year-old, was not seriously injured. Police have been called to Southport High School at least eight times this year with at least half those calls involving fights.
