Woman shot point-blank in the face

Police in Lawrence are searching for a man who they said kicked in a chained apartment door and shot a woman in the face Sunday night. The 23-year-old victim was shot three to four times in the face, chest and leg, police said. Her 20-year-old sister, who also lives in the Kingsmead Way apartment, jumped from the third-floor balcony to get away. She sprained her ankles during the jump. Both women were taken to Methodist Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
