Police said the unidentified driver struck a truck that was pulling onto I-65 from the shoulder just before 5 a.m. A passenger in that semi was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Authorities closed the northbound lanes of I-65 to traffic from 71st Street to the I-865 merge during the cleanup, which officials described as difficult because the violent force of the crash left the two trucks interlocked.
