AIT Laboratories named ‘Small Business of the Year’

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has named Indianapolis-based health care research and testing firm AIT Laboratories its 2009
Small Business of the Year.

Founded 18 years ago, AIT has more than 200 employees, including 90 that it added last year. The company also doubled its
national sales force and entered 17 new markets in 2008.

As a result, AIT Laboratories gave its employees nearly $3 million in bonuses last year. It also offers them a wellness program;
paid registration to community events; profit sharing; flexible work hours; up to $5,000 in tuition reimbursement; free gym
memberships; and staff picnics, barbecues and other outings.

The chamber selected AIT Laboratories out of a field of 50 candidates. The award is open to all Hoosier companies with 250
or fewer employees. Other Small Business of the Year finalists included Columbus-based Elwood Staffing Services; New Castle-based
Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service; Merrillville-based MonoSol; Cloverdale-based Scorpion Coatings; and Anderson-based Unified Group
Services.
