High waters strand motorists

February 28, 2011

Severe overnight storms caused numerous problems throughout central Indiana. Several area districts decided to delay school in order to let high waters subside. Ten cars had to be pulled from flood waters Monday morning in Indianapolis between New Church Boulevard and Washington Street. High water made it difficult for many school buses, including a Washington Township bus headed for North Central High School with 17 students on board that got stuck near 44th Street and Clover Drive. In Madison County, a bridge collapse near Frankton caused two vehicle accidents.
