Hat World purchase boosts team-merchandise strategy

Locally based Hat World Inc. has acquired a custom screen printing and embroidery operation based in Madison, Wis.

The company, Impact Sports Inc., brands products ranging from jerseys to polo shirts and hats
to shoes, for colleges and universities, corporations and youth organizations.

"Our goal is to take this business nationwide to be the largest team dealer in the country," Hat World President Ken Kocher
said in a statement.

Hat World, which operates 850 mall stores mainly under the Lids name, is a subsidiary of Nashville-based Genesco Inc.
