Ener1 picks CEO for Indianapolis-based battery unit

Battery maker Ener1 has hired a CEO for its Indianapolis-based operation.

Christopher Cowger, 40, joins Ener1 from California-based Advanced Micro Devices, where he was corporate vice president and general manager.

Cowger holds the title of president of Ener1 and CEO of the local subsidiary EnerDel. His position was previously unfilled at Ener1.

Cowger started his career in various engineering capacities at General Motors Corp. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from Duke University and graduate degrees in electrical engineering and business administration from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
