On a seasonally adjusted basis, the pace of mortgage loan activity decreased 6.7 percent for the week ended April 8, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. The rate for 30-year mortgages increased to 4.98 percent from 4.93 the previous week. The rate for 15-year mortgages increased to 4.17 percent from 4.14 percent.
