Morgan Hospital and Medical Center
is planning an expansion that could cost up to $50 million, and it hopes to break ground by mid-2009, the Martinsville Reporter-Times reports.
The plans call for a four-story complex to replace 72 semi-private patient rooms with 77 private ones. Preliminary renderings show a glass-faced structure that would have better visibility from State Road 37 than the existing building, which would be renovated and incorporated into the new building. The Martinsville hospital has a partnership with Clarian Health of Indianapolis.
“With the interstate coming through and the apparent growth now, we need to be doing planning for when Martinsville is 30,000 or 40,000 people in size,” hospital CEO and President Tom Laux told the Reporter-Times. “We want a footprint taking us into the future.”
