MONROE COUNTY

MONROE COUNTY IU seeking applicants for student trustee

Indiana University

is inviting students at each of its eight campuses to apply for the post of student trustee.

The current office holder, Arthur D. King, a senior in the IU Kelley School of Business, is the 17th student to hold the position. His twoyear term ends June 30, 2009.

Board President Stephen Ferguson said in a statement that the position gives students an opportunity to have a voice in shaping IU’s future.

“Governing an institution of the size and scope of IU is an enormous challenge. The lessons that you will learn-how to listen to others’ views, how to analyze data, and how to make the tough decisions that every leader must make-will serve you in good stead forever,” Ferguson said in the statement.

Applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the president of the university and composed of students from IU campuses and a representative of Gov. Mitch Daniels.

The application is available online at www.indiana.edu/~trustees.
