The Indianapolis Zoo announced the record-setting birth of an elephant Thursday. Kubwa gave birth to the 238-pound female calf at 5:34 a.m. Kubwa is the first African elephant in the world to give birth successfully via artificial insemination three times in a row. Zoo elephant shows have been temporarily halted while the staff works with the calf.
