I was disappointed by the [April 20] “special report” criticizing the relationship between the Simon organization and the city of Indianapolis. The article belonged on the editorial page, not the front page.
I wonder if your reporter is even old enough to remember what downtown Indianapolis was like 15 or 20 years ago. If not for the Simons’ civic pride, the Pacer franchise would have been moved to a more lucrative market years ago. Perhaps this is what IBJ would prefer to have happen.
I don’t know what your article was intended to accomplish other than to editorialize and to alienate an outstanding corporate citizen and its founding family.
