On a seasonally adjusted basis, the pace of mortgage loan applications increased 6.3 percent for the week ended Sept. 9, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. The rate for 30-year mortgages decreased to 4.17 percent from 4.23 percent the previous week. The rate for 15-year mortgages fell to 3.40 percent from 3.41 percent. The new rates are the lowest in the history of the Mortgage Bankers Association survey.
