With all the Indianapolis Opera activity at the Basile Opera Center, let us not forget that the bread and butter for IO is still big productions of familiar operas. In this case, Jee Hyun Lim, who led New York City Opera’s “Butterfly” tour in Japan, Dublin and more, plays the title role opposite Garrett Sorenson, direct from the recent Broadway revival of “Master Class.” It’s Sorenson’s first time with IO and his first time playing Pinkerton, which should add a newcomer meets vet element to the inherent East meets West opera.
