Indiana University and Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center have formed a partnership to collaborate in areas including cybersecurity, computing and economic development in south central Indiana.

Under an agreement signed Wednesday, IU and Crane will seek to provide IU students opportunities to work with Crane staff, facilities and equipment. Crane employees will have opportunities to study at IU.

In recent years, IU and Crane had begun working together in public management and administration, energy and matter, chemistry, and physics, as well as in engineering programs on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus.

Other areas where the two expect to collaborate include technology transfer, kinesiology, optics, and intellectual property research.

The Crane center about 20 miles southwest of Bloomington supports the Navy's electronic, engineering and ordnance needs.
