Man hurt in crash into ambulance

A man is in serious condition after the car he was driving collided with an ambulance and flipped over just after 6 p.m. Monday on the east side of Indianapolis. Witnesses say the car was driving erratically on East 21 Street near Hawthorne Lane before crossing lanes and hitting the ambulance head-on. Police believe alcohol may be a factor in the crash. Two medics and a non-emergency patient in the ambulance were not seriously injured.
