Six people escaped from a car that drove into the Central Canal in Broad Ripple at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Police said the driver failed to make a turn just south of 63rd Street on Broadway Street. Two of the people were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. Police say alcohol, speed and wet weather may have been factors in the crash.
