Subscribe NowA van crashed into a fire hydrant early Tuesday morning on the northwest side of Indianapolis, prompting the closure of one lane of 16th Street near Lafayette Road for several hours. Police aren’t sure what caused the vehicle to veer from the road about 1:30 a.m. The impact ripped the hydrant from its mount, causing water to gush out and flood the area.
