Lantern Partners LLC, the company that owns a Fishers office building formerly occupied by the failed Irwin Mortgage Corp., is seeking to reorganize under chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The firm listed debts and assets of $10 million to $50 million in federal court documents filed on May 25. Its largest creditor, GE Commercial Finance Business Property Corp., is owed nearly $11.4 million.

Lantern owns the 125,000-square-foot Freedom Mortgage Building at 10500 Kincaid Drive, which was leased to Irwin Mortgage until its parent, Columbus-based Irwin Financial Corp., went bankrupt in 2009.

Cincinnati-based First Financial Bancorp acquired Irwin Financial’s banking operations.

With 450 employees, Irwin Mortgage was one of the area’s largest financial services companies.

The building also experienced a setback last year when tenant Samex Capital folded after its owner was accused of financial fraud.•
