Oregon authorities said 62-year-old Phillip Ferguson died from a gunshot wound to the head soon after officers spotted him in a remote area near Burns, Ore. Prosecutors charged Ferguson in 2000 with bilking investors in his Marion financial firm out of $30 million. Brian Ferguson of Anderson said his father “just vanished” in 2000 without any goodbyes.
