Firefighters spent Wednesday morning at the CSX Avon Rail Yard investigating a chemical spill. According to Avon fire officials, an unconnected rail car in an isolated part of the yard was leaking a small amount of a chemical called isobutylene, a highly flammable substance. Firefighters are monitoring air quality in the area to ensure the safety of nearby homes and businesses. Environmental cleanup company Summit Contracting is working with firefighters and CSX to mitigate the spill.
