Subscribe NowA former high school teacher accused of raping a 16-year-old student was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday after he reached a plea deal with Marion County prosecutors. Daniel Goens, 45, who formerly taught and coached football and track at Monrovia High School in Morgan County, pleaded guilty to charges of criminal deviate conduct and providing false information on a handgun license. He originally was charged with rape, criminal deviate conduct and two counts of child seduction. Goens was fired by the district in December.
