Private mass held for missing priest

Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove hosted a private mass Thursday afternoon for friends and family members of Christian Kappes, a priest who has gone missing in Greece. Kappes has been studying in Athens for three years. On Saturday, he called family members to tell them about escalating violence involving his friend and translator, Ioanna Lekakou. Kappes’ family said he last contacted them Monday to say that he also had been threatened, and has not been heard from since.
