Subscribe NowMore than 220 dentists and patients from across Indiana filled the Statehouse this morning, urging lawmakers to pass a bill guaranteeing that insurance companies honor patient requests about where to send benefit payments. Patients typically ask insurance company to send payments directly to the dentist, but some insurers won’t do that if the dentist isn’t a preferred provider. Dentists say the tactic is the insurance companies’ way of forcing them to join preferred-provider networks. Lawmakers will hold a hearing on the legislation tomorrow.
