Lawmakers try to slow welfare system rollout-WEB ONLY

An Evansville-area GOP lawmaker is backing a bill to slow changes to the state’s welfare system. Rep. Suzanne Crouch has criticized the way the Family and Social Services Administration has managed the transition to a new system that encourages people to apply for aid online, over the phone or by fax. Some applicants have complained about lost paperwork, revoked benefits and lengthy telephone hold times.
