Pacers Sports & Entertainment President Jim Morris said the changes for the 2009-10 season are being made because “our economy is in a difficult period.”
He said the price reduction would affect all seating areas. Some balcony seats in the 18,165-seat Conseco Fieldhouse will go for $5 a game for full-season ticket holders.
Half-season and some mini-plan seats will also see lower prices.
The most expensive courtside seats will drop to $550 per game, down from $601 this year.
The Pacers also will allow season ticket-holders to make payments over a 10-month period without finance charges.
The team is making the moves to spur home attendance that ranked last in the National Basketball Association last season, when the team averaged 12,221 fans per game.
Pacers officials say the team has struggled financially during its 10 years in the Fieldhouse. The team is expected to renegotiate its lease after the season.
Late last month, the Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board, the city body that owns and oversees Conseco Fieldhouse, unveiled a slew of budgetary concerns, including a projected $15 million it will need to cover Fieldhouse operating expenses in 2010.
