Lilly Endowment awards $6.3M to Indy housing group

Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded a $6.5 million grant to the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, which focuses on revitalizing neighborhoods and helping qualified residents purchase homes.

Since INHP’s founding in 1988, the Indianapolis-based endowment has granted more than $130 million to the not-for-profit group. The latest funds will go toward its core mission of increasing opportunities for individuals and clients to purchase housing.

“The need for homebuyer education, mortgage and financial advising and affordable lending programs is as important today as when INHP was founded,” said Moira Carlstedt, president of INHP.

The funding also will support local foreclosure prevention services, help residents create plans to improve their communities, and provide operating capital for up to 12 neighborhood-based community development organizations.
