Last week, as part of a contest to win tickets to see Todd Rundgren at the Vogue, I asked you to fill in the blank: “I don’t want to work/I just want to ___________ all day. Your answers didn’t impact the outcome, but here are some of the more interesting responses.

“I don’t want to work/I just want to ride my bike and eat watermelon all day.” (Tyler Koontz)

“I don’t want to work/I just want to read IBJ all day.” (Eric Pryor)

“I don’t want to work/I just want to hang out with Lou Harry all day.” (Kim Easton)

Writer’s note: We’re flattered, Eric and Kim. Really. – L.H.

“I don’t want to work/I just want to watch NCAA basketball all day.” (Vicki Williamson)

“I don’t want to work/I just want to plant me some mums all day.” (Matt Greven)

“I don’t want to work/I just want to dance on my desk all day.” (Rachael Neely)

“I don’t want to work’I just want to have my government bail me out and prop me up and let me live a life of leisure without having to give any effort or anything back at whatsover. All day.” (Chris Love)

“I don’t want to work/I just want to cash residual checks from sport-related overuse of my throwaway pop song all day. Take that, Gary Glitter.” (John Byrne)

“I don’t want to work/I just want to party like it’s 1974 all day. – The reason I say this is I was a freshman in ’74 at IU and went to a Todd Rundgren concert in Evansville. Three of my babe friends colored my shoulder-length hair in four different colors. I was sweet lookin’. Needless to say I had a blast but the Evansvillians didn’t quite know what to make of me and my eight colorful friends and quite frankly I thought we were going to get beat up … Ah, yes, fond hippie memories …” (James Smith)
