Celadon Group Inc. has promoted chief financial officer Eric Meek to chief operating officer, a new position that will give him oversight of the Indianapolis-based trucking company’s daily operations.
"The board of directors is pleased to take the next step in appointing the necessary resources to grow our business,” CEO Paul Will said Tuesday in a written statement. “Eric's well-deserved promotion to chief operating officer places the company's day-to-day operations under smart, solid management. We believe Eric's vision, leadership and financial acumen will serve the company well as we continue our long- term strategic goal of becoming the premier solution provider in the transportation and logistics industry."
Celadon will split the former CFO position in two, creating a principal accounting officer and a principal finance officer. Bobby Peavler, former vice president of accounting, was appointed vice president; and principal accounting officer. Leslie Tarble, former vice president of finance, was appointed vice president, treasurer and principal financial officer.
Celadon shares were down 27 cents Wednesday, to $19.30 each.
