A private ambulance service in Fort Wayne will close June 30, putting 116 people out of work.

Colorado-based American Medical Response Ambulance Service Inc. alerted the Indiana Department of Workforce Development of the closure Friday.

Employees affected include 69 paramedics, 23 emergency medical technicians and 11 dispatchers.

AMR operates in 250 communities in 40 states. In Indiana, its only other location is in Evansville. All employees losing their jobs in Fort Wayne can reapply for positions within the company, AMR told the state.
