The Indiana office of AARP is soliciting nominations for its annual “Best Employers for Workers Over 50” recognition program.
Last year the organization that is an advocate for older Americans honored 50 employers nationwide whose workplace policies and practices are friendly toward older workers. Now in its ninth year, the program recognizes companies that offer flexible work schedules, training/learning opportunities, competitive health and retirement benefits and ageneutral performance and appraisal systems.
Any employer with at least 50 employees and based in the United States is eligible to apply to the AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50 awards program. This includes for-profit companies, notfor-profit organizations, educational institutions and local, state and federal governmental bodies. Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., finished first in the 2008 Best Employer search.
The entry deadline is Feb. 13. Information about applying is available at
www.aarp.org/bestemployers.
An independent research firm and a panel of judges comprising national experts score applicants. Final ranking is based on these scores after review by AARP. All employers who apply for the award receive work-force management information and feedback about their application.
