Police: Intoxicated driver caused crash, fuel spill-WEB ONLY

An Indianapolis man is in police custody, accused of driving while intoxicated and causing a morning accident that spilled more than 50 gallons of diesel fuel at Emerson Avenue and 56th Street. Police say the man’s SUV ran a red light and slammed into the cab of a tractor trailer. Lawrence and Indianapolis firefighters worked with hazardous materials crews to clean up the fuel. Officials said they were concerned about the fuel spilling into Fall Creek.
