Eighth-graders Vaibhav Vavilala of Carmel and Kennyi Aouad of Terre Haute are among 41 spellers competing for a spot in tonight’s finals. The event’s reigning champion is also a Hoosier: 13-year-old Sameer Mishra of West Lafayette.
