Mother-daughter team Karen E Laine and Mina Starsiak, who own Indianapolis-based renovation business Two Chicks and a Hammer Inc., have landed their own television series on HGTV.

"Good Bones," which premiered March 22, follows Laine and Starsiak as they buy Indianapolis houses in serious disrepair and transform them into marketable homes—sometimes after gutting them to the studs.

Starsiak, a real estate agent, and Laine, a former lawyer, were featured last May in a pilot show called "Two Chicks and a Hammer," about their business. HGTV liked the show well enough to give them a 10-episode series.

New episodes are scheduled to run on Tuesdays with frequent reruns appearing throughout the week.

Jensen and Starsiak started their company in early 2010 after rehabbing an eyesore at 23rd Street and Carrolton Avenue that Starsiak bought in 2007 for just $37,000. After living in it for five years, she sold it for $169,000 while pocketing some profit.

Starsiak, an Indiana University graduate, since has moved to Fountain Square, and so has Jensen, an attorney who practices family law and criminal defense work from an office in the neighborhood.

Without the assistance of bank loans, they’ve slowly grown the business and renovated more than 20 homes in the Fountain Square area, performing much of the work themselves.

IBJ featured the duo in an April 2015 story.
