Ex-legislator wants recount in Democratic congressional race

A former state legislator wants a recount of the Democratic primary for a southwestern Indiana congressional seat.

Preliminary results from the Indiana secretary of state's office show Ron Drake leading David Orentlicher by about 50 votes out of nearly 60,000 cast in the 8th District Democratic primary.

Orentlicher told theTribune-Star of Terre Haute that he believes errors were made in vote counting and that he'll file for a recount by Tuesday's deadline.

Drake criticized Orentlicher for moving to Terre Haute to run for Congress after formerly representing an Indianapolis legislative district. Orentlicher questioned Drake living in Washington, D.C., for more than 30 years before moving to his Sullivan County farm in last year.

The winner will face Republican Rep. Larry Bucshon, who is seeking a fourth term.
