Safety improvements begin on north U.S. 31-WEB ONLY

Police officers and traffic officials will implement a variety of changes today as they try to improve safety on a busy highway in Hamilton County. Law enforcement patrols along U.S. 31 between Carmel and Westfield will identify drivers who speed, follow too closely or drive aggressively. Other efforts include lower speed limits in some areas, larger traffic signs, repainted road stripes and a synchronized signal system.
