City-County Councilman Zach Adamson said Thursday that he won't face criminal charges after a Marion County special prosecutor finished her investigation of allegations of sexual misconduct.
Adamson was accused in June by a 19-year-old male of an alleged incident that occurred last fall.
Tami Napier, a chief deputy prosecuting attorney for the 72nd Judicial Circuit, was the special prosecutor in the case. She could not be reached for comment, but Adamson sent a copy of her recommendation to media outlets.
In the court filing, Napier asserted that she "conferred with the assigned IMPD detective in this matter, reviewed all of the material developed during the investigation and arrived at a decision" that no criminal charges would be filed in the matter.
Adamson said he was "pleased" at the result of the seven-week investigation by police.
"We're grateful to the IMPD detectives working on this matter and thank them for their thorough investigation," Adamson said in a statement. "I wish to thank the many people here in Indianapolis and around Indiana who've reached out to express their unequivocal support for me and my family during this time."
Adamson said he looked forward to putting the issue in the past "so we can get back to the important work of improving the quality of life" for people in his council district.
