Health care research company terminating 98 workers in Indianapolis

A Raleigh, North Carolina-based health care research company plans to eliminate the jobs of 98 employees in its Indianapolis office, the company said in a notice to the state.

Syneos Health Inc., a publicly traded company formed by the merger of inVentiv Health Inc. and INC Research in January, said it would make the cuts from July 31 to Aug. 14 at its office at 225 S. East St.

In a letter to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the company said “changing business needs require us to reduce operations at this facility.” It said the terminations are expected to be permanent.

An official with the company did not immediately respond to a voice message seeking comment about the decision.

Syneos reported $1.06 billion in revenue in the first quarter. It has about 21,000 employees in more than 100 offices throughout the world.
