I&M to test wind generators in eastern Indiana

Indiana Michigan Power Co. is negotiating with Jay County landowners to build windmills to test the area’s ability to generate electricity. I&M, based in Fort Wayne and owned by American Electric Power of Columbus, Ohio, might invest as much as $175 million in the Jay County area, according to The Commercial Review of Portland.

Relatively high wind speeds on a ridge of land running through much of east-central Indiana has attracted I&M to study Jay County as well as nearby Wayne and Randolph counties.
