North Carolina lands HondaJet

North Carolina has beaten Indiana in the hunt to land Honda Motor Co.’s new light jet business.

Officials of the Japanese company said today its Honda Aircraft Co. Inc. subsidiary will establish its $60 million headquarters and affiliated manufacturing plant in Greensboro, N.C.

Honda plans to hire at least 300 workers deliver its first batch of finished HondaJets to customers by 2010. The facility will be Honda’s 17th major North American manufacturing plant.

IBJ reported Oct. 16 that Indiana Economic Development Corp. negotiated with Honda to try to bring its light jet business to Indiana.
