Manufacturing leader Kiely interviewed for Ivy Tech post

March 15, 2007
Indiana Manufacturers Association President Pat Kiely was one of six finalists interviewed to replace Ivy Tech Community College President Gerald Lamkin, who is retiring June 1.

Kiely was eliminated from the search because he doesn’t have advanced academic degrees, said two sources who are familiar with the interviews but wished to remain anonymous.

Kiely refused to comment beyond saying he had been contacted by a “headhunter.”

IBJ reported March13 that trustees have narrowed their search to former Remy International Inc. President and CEO Thomas J. Snyder and Thomas D. Klincar, a commandant at Community College of the Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.

Ivy Tech Executive Vice President Carol D’Amico, considered by many observers to be a front-runner, was passed over.
