Indiana led the Midwest in venture capital received by health care startups in the first quarter, according to BioEnterprise, a Cleveland group that helps bioscience companies.
Four Indiana health care companies lured $94.5 million in the period. Targanta Therapeutics Corp., an Indianapolis company developing antibacterial agents, raised $70 million of the sum.
Following Indiana was Ohio, which attracted $93.9 million across 15 companies.
The Midwest attracted a total of $234 million, more than double the size of a year earlier.
